3 BUSSI, MICHEL AFTER THE CRASH
Hachette Book Group 2017 0316309699 / 9780316309691 PAPERBACK .
Hachette Book Group 1/3/2017. New paperback. Store pick, recommended by Nancy M.: In 1980 a plane crashes in the French alps and the only survivor is a 3 month old infant who was thrown clear of the wreckage and the resulting fire. Her survival was considered a miracle but even more unbelievable was the coincidence that there were two female infants the same age aboard the flight. With no identifying marks and no DNA at the time, what ensued was a bitter custody battle by two families Ė one very rich and the other very poor. A detective is hired to try and find the truth but after 18 years totally devoted to the case he has decided he was a complete failure and is on the verge of committing suicide when he sees a piece of evidence in all of his papers that suddenly makes sense. One of the most brilliantly written crime novels Iíve read in a while! A real page turnerÖ I read all but the last 60 pages in one sitting. Lots of twists and turns and a huge build up finally come together in a surprising ending. A very good book! -Nancy M., store volunteer

5 HARPER, JANE DRY
Flatiron 2017 1250105609 / 9781250105608 First Edition, First Printing. HARDCOVER in Brand New jacket.
Flatiron 1/10/2017. New hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. in Brand New jacket. Store pick, recommended by Nancy M.: Federal Agent Aaron Falk has not been back to his home town in twenty years. Not since he and his father were run out of town on suspicion Aaron had something to do with the death of his 16 year old friend and classmate Ellie. The small country town of Kiewarra in Australia was suffering from years of severe drought. Businesses have closed and farmers are desperate so no one was terribly surprised when it seemed that Luke, Aaron's former best friend, had taken his own life and that of his wife and son. But, Lukeís parents are sure that something else has happened and they shame Aaron into agreeing to look into the deaths. Richly and flawlessly written, this story has great characters and a stunning plot. Itís hot and itís dry and you can feel it! Every page builds suspense, and there is just enough reference to the past to keep you in suspense about what really happened twenty years ago and what really happened to Luke. -Nancy M., store volunteer

SECOND MRS. HOCKADAY, RIVERS, SUSAN
6 RIVERS, SUSAN SECOND MRS. HOCKADAY
Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill 2017 1616205814 / 9781616205812 First Edition, First Printing. HARDCOVER in Brand New jacket.
Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill 1/10/2017. New hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. in Brand New jacket. Store pick, recommended by Jackie (seconded by Melissa): This is an amazing book, I simply loved everything about it. Any fan of historical fiction, novels about human failings and dialog that is almost poetic should read this book. The depiction of the civil war on a very personal level to one woman is stirring and hard to take in. The book is a series of letters to and from various family members and by then end of the first 30 pages you feel invested in every member involved. In some ways it is a revisit to the time when letters were the form of communication that existed and what a picture they could paint. It is hard to believe this is a debut novel, the writing is wonderful. -Jackie W., store volunteer (seconded by Melissa O., store employee) Signed by author.
