I hear a common customer complaint: "My favorite authors just don't write fast enough!" Well, I can't really speed them up any, but I can try to recommend other authors that you might enjoy reading while you wait for that next book by Evanovich, Cussler, Grisham, etc.

• Mary Kay Andrews writes hilarious, Southern novels. Our favorite is Savannah Blues, another one of our Mystery Picks.
• Jennifer Crusie writes laugh-out-loud contemporary romance novels, some of which have a hint of mystery. Our favorite is Tell Me Lies.
• Susan Elizabeth Phillips is another contemporary romance author with a great sense of humor. A good place to start is with It Had to Be You.
• Sarah Strohmeyer writes a mystery series starring airheaded Bubbles Yablonsky, a hairdresser turned investigative reporter whose antics delight. The first book in the series is Bubbles Unbound.

Clive Cussler fans...

• Jack Du Brul has a series featuring world-weary geologist Philip Mercer. The first book is Vulcan's Forge.
• Ted Bell's series features Alexander Hawke, direct descendant of a famous English pirate who now does freelance government work. The first book is Hawke.
• Jon Land has an older series featuring rogue CIA agent Blaine McCracken. The series is out of print, but we get used copies in from time to time.
• Matthew Reilly and
• James Rollins tend to write stand-alone action-packed thrillers.

• The Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter. The Gallagher Academy is a top-secret boarding school for girls who are spies-in-training.
  
• The Young Bond series by Charlie Higson follows James Bond during his school years at Eton.
  
• The Danny Watts series by Andy McNab and Robert Rigby. Orphaned Danny Watts wants nothing to do with his traitorous grandfather until the British military offer him a scholarship in return for tracking the old man down.

Carl Hiaasen Fans...

• Elmore Leonard. Author of Get Shorty, Out of Sight, and The Big Bounce, among others.
  
• The Death and Life of Bobby Z by Don Winslow. A high-octane thriller in which two-time loser Tim Kearney must successfully impersonate dead drug dealer Bobby Z or be returned to prison where scads of Hell's Angels are waiting to settle a score.
  
• The Doc Ford series by Randy Wayne White. Ford is an ex-NSA agent turned marine biologist living in Sanibel Flats, Florida. But his past keeps coming back to haunt him.
